Do You Want To Dream Big?

We grow up learning that in order to make money we need to have good grades in school and get a good job. We learn that most people won’t create their own business and that most people who start their own business will fail. Most people we know go to college and get a job to earn money. We then start a family and buy a house. We think about the day when we can retire. Many people call this the American dream.

What if we did things differently?

I think if you’re an entrepreneur, you’ve got to dream big and then dream bigger.

-Howard Schultz

What if we taught kids to be creative problem solvers and not just good employees? We could change the world and we would create enormous wealth. Instead of playing it safe, what if more people took the risk and found solutions to problems? Think of the way our lives could be changed. What if instead of trying to be experts on a lot of things, we simplified our lives and focused on what we did really well, allowing others to help us by either doing the other things for us or coachingĀ us?

Today many have found their passion in the work they do and have built businesses that have succeeded in not just providing for them but also giving them abundance. They have seen problems and created solutions to those problems. Some of the problems are ones we did not know we had. They are developing the products and careers of the future.

People who have a passion in the work they do will find multiple ways to build wealth. They create products that together will generate plenty of income. They invest their money back into the business and themselves. They look to expand and add to the asset column. Their money works for them and they earn money 24/7. This is not reserved for a select few; it is open to all who are willing to work.

Here are some questions to ask if you want to join the club of wealth builders and go from employee to entrepreneur:

  • Do I know what my one unique gift is?
  • Do I dream about solutions to problems?
  • Do I have a passion for work that I love?
  • Do I want to work hard?
  • Am I a risk taker?

Ask yourself these questions and dream of what could be possible. It won’t be easy. You will go through ups and downs, but if you know what you want to do in life and have a passion for it, you will succeed. Your business may not initially, but you will grow and learn from the experience. Find your niche. Don’t think about how to make it perfect. Just start.

We have started the new year and many of us have set New Year’s Resolutions with goals for 2016. Most people will not keep these resolutions. Some have already given up. Most people want change but don’t change their habits in order to facilitate that change. We set goals and hope and pray they come true but don’t put in the effort to reach those goals.

If you want to make change in your life, you need to take the steps to change habits.

Here’s the great thing: you can start today by making changes to your habits. If you want to lose weight, add exercising and eating healthful foods to your life. Cut out fast food. If you want to learn a new skill, find books and learning materials on the subject. Practice the skill. If you want a new job, take the steps to discover what work you want to do. What will use your skills and unique gift? Set your goals and implement in your life the change you want to see on a daily basis. You will need to train yourself to accomplish your goals and resolutions.

If your resolution or goal for 2016 is to find work you love and are passionate about, consider these steps to take to help you on your journey:

  1. Discover your unique gift.
  2. Find what you are passionate about and could do for the rest of your life.
  3. Decide what organizations you want to work for.
  • Choose 40-50 organizations you would want to work for.
  • Research and learn about each organization and understand their culture.
  • Match your skills to the need of the organization.
  • Create a resume and cover letter for each organization.
  • Apply to each company and follow up at least 2 times with the person who does the hiring.

Following the steps above will get you interviews. In the interviews, if you show your passion and how you can help the company, you will find a job that you will love and be passionate about.

Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life

-Confucius
